Welcome to Saint Catherine of Siena Parish, Reseda, California.
(corner of Sherman Way and Lindley Avenue)
Our Mother of Perpetual Help
We are a Roman Catholic lay ministry serving the devotees to the Blessed Mother, under the approved title of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, under the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of Archdiocese of Los Angeles, California.
The original of this copy is long taken into Heaven during the Sack of Constantinople. In year 1207, His Holiness Pope Innocent III declared that this portrayal of the holy icon inspired by the Holy Virgin, magnified in her beauty and splendour and was called by the Greeks "Virgin of the Passion".
This famous Marian icon is widely propagated by the Redemptorist Order, appointed by His Holiness Pope Pius IX in 1865. Once stolen and rescued from Crete, it is the miraculous true copy of the original painting created by Saint Luke the Evangelist using the meal table of the Holy Family in Nazareth, Israel.
Whether you are making a single or several consecutive visits, we hope you obtain the necessary graces through this approved WEDNESDAY Novena.

BACLARAN TEXT NOVENA
Following in the tradition guided by the Redemptorist Order (Congregatio Sanctissimi Redemptoris), we use the official Baclaran text written and approved by C.Ss.R in Rome and by the Archbishop of Manila. The text is with Pontifical approbation from Pope Paul VI, Imprimatur by the Archbishop of Manila Rufino Cardinal Santos and Imprimi Potest by Patrick Deane, C.Ss.R.
- The golden monstrance is taken out at the 6PM ring of the Bell Tower
- Please observe silence. Turn off/vibrate your cellphones
- Novena readings begin at 6:30 bell ring
- Click here for the Baclaran Text of Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help
- Click here for the recitation of the Baclaran Novena in the Original Icon's shrine in Rome.
The Baclaran text is the exact same Novena text officially used in the San Ligouri de Esquillino Church, the mother church of the General Redemptorist Headquarters in Rome, where the original icon is enshrined.
All are welcome to join us in the adoration of our Blessed Lord Jesus and his Blessed Mother Mary. We invite all people from all walks of life, to join us in solemn hymns and prayers which we offer to God the Father in Heaven.
Novena booklets are offered at the shrine. Parishioners with their own Novena booklet from Baclaran, Philippines may also choose to bring their own.
We also welcome the generosity of our own parishioners to make copies of the Novena booklet for distribution in our Wednesday meetings. We are very thankful for those who can make copies of the Novena booklets for our distribution to others who seek intercession to the Blessed Mother. To this day, we continuously run out due to lost or unreturned copies. Thank you.
BLESSED SACRAMENT CHAPEL
The Blessed Sacrament chapel is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All are welcome to come in and pray before the monstrance. Please observe total silence in your meditation and prayer before our Blessed Lord Jesus. The monstrance is taken out each Wednesday and is placed next to the icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help.
MASS INTENTIONS
Parishioners who wish to request a mass intention, for the living, sick, or the deceased, or for souls in purgatory are advised to come into the Rectory office to make reservations prior to the 7:00 PM mass.
HHS MANDATE:
Loyal to the Magisterium and guided by His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI and Metropolitan Archbishop Jose Gomez, our lay apostolate does not endorse nor support the recent HHS Mandate against the moral teachings and conscience of the Roman Catholic Church regarding contraception and abortion. We uphold the sanctity of human life, in all its forms from natural conception to natural death.
We strongly urge our good parishioners to support the Archbishop and the Pope and continue to offer their prayers, penances, offertories and indulgences for the healthy resolution of this regrettable event.
Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, Patroness of the United States of America, pray for us.
BENEDICTION OF SACRAMENTALS:
Sacramental objects
The blessing of Sacramentals (i.e. Medals, Rosaries, Scapulars, Vehicle Automobiles, Icons and Religious Statues) are done ONLY by a Roman Catholic Priest in the Sacristy or Rectory of the Shrine after the 7PM Holy Mass. Please do not ask lay persons or Eucharistic ministers to bless your sacramentals, (this is a venial sin prohibited by canon law).
*We are currently making plans to restore the Tabernacle to the central altar of the shrine. We appreciate your prayers, support and generosity in making this venture in restoring the church to its traditional splendor.
Please continue to be generous in order to allow the parish to host our Novena services, and pray fervently for petitioners who seek jobs, newlyweds, seeking financial help and are broken-hearted, living and deceased souls in purgatory.

PRAYER FOR POPE Francis
God the father, who willed that all men be created in your image and likeness, bless and protect your Holy Ambassador and Vicar on Earth. Defend your teachings through the Magisterium of this Holy Church and render to him good health and spiritual courage to speak and guide his flock into your kingdom.
Empower him with the boldness to speak in Truth and in Christian Charity, while maintaining your Supreme authority as the sole successor to the First Prince of the Apostles. We beg you to embolden his endeavour by promoting Christian unity, so that all souls may be led through the See of Peter to Jesus your Son, who is our Lord and Saviour forever and Ever. Amen.
